The cement floor has been broken out. I used an expensive diamond blade (a good one costs about $40 at Home Depot) on an ancient 7" Sears Craftsman circular saw. I outlined the demolition area with a 1/2 inch cut and then broke up the floor with a rented electric jack hammer from A & A Rentals. Protective eyewear, a high quality mask, a plastic barrier to limit dispersion of dust, and a good shop vacuum for clean up are all absolute necessities. IMG 2268

DEMOLITION #2 The demolition went well except for a 1/2 day diversion the failure of shutoff for the clothes washer that dumped quite a lot of water in the work area (finding the replacement part took the longest time). I used an expensive diamond blade (a good one costs about $40 at Home Depot) on an ancient 7" Sears Craftsman circular saw. I outlined the demolition area with a 1/2 inch cut and then broke up the floor with a rented 60 lb Bosch Electric Hammer from A & A Rentals. Protective eyewear, a high quality mask, a plastic barrier to limit dispersion of dust, and a good shop vacuum for clean up are all absolute necessities.
