FLOOR PLAN The clothes washer will move eight feet down the wall on the right to a closet to be constructed at the opposite end of the current laundry room. The dryer will face it on the wall to the left in the same closet. The water closet will be placed in the foreground left and the shower will be placed in the fore ground right (approximately where the current floor drain is marked by the vertical galvanized pipe). The lavatory will be placed where the dryer currently resides (marked by the laundry detergent box on top).

BEFORE DEMOLITION #2 You can see the black main cast iron drain pipe on the extreme left next to the partition that divides the utility room from the adjoining laundry room. The cast iron pipe in the foreground is a vent for the floor vent (note the 1/2 inch PVC pipe emptying the air conditioner condensation into the floor drain). The laundry room will become the bathroom with the shower to be placed just where the clothes washer is now located. The clothes washer and dryer will move eight feet to the left at the end of the current laundry room. img 1323

BEFORE DEMOLITION #1 These are the "before" pictures for our project to update this 1947, brick and block duplex in Jefferson Commons, Alexandria, VA with a basement bathroom and bedroom and a dishwasher in the 1st floor kitchen.
This is looking from my basement finished room into the utility room (this is directly under the kitchen). That's a 200 amp on the left and a gas hot water heater on the right. The gas forced hot air furnace is to the right just out of the photo. img 1328
